Current events in the sky for the month can be viewed.
Venus now is place in the evening sky and will stay there until June. The big event in June will be when our sister planet transits the sun for the last time this century. Almost everyone will be able to see some part of the transit but the eastern pacific and Hawaii will see the entire event. The next transit is in December 2117.
The Annular Solar Eclipse of 2012 May 20 will be visible in the western area of the country although a larger area will see the partial part of the eclipse. The annular path will be visible in Northern California, most of Nevada, southern Utah, northeastern Arizona, most of New Mexico, and a small part of Texas. The annularly will last about 4 minutes in the US in the late afternoon to sunset depending where you are.
